What is SPRAVATO® therapy?

  • During your appointment, you’ll sit comfortably and administer the spray yourself, one spray in each nostril. Your healthcare provider will show you how to use the nasal spray device.

Glutamate, the primary excitatory pathway within your central nervous system, is responsible for cognition, mood, emotion, and more.1 An imbalance within this system can result in depression.

SPRAVATO® helps your brain absorb more glutamate and reconnect the synapses in the brain and improve depression symptoms.

You’ll rest for at least two hours as your healthcare provider monitors you for side effects. During this time, you will be seated comfortably in a recliner in a quiet, relaxing room.

You’ll receive treatment twice a week for the first four weeks. After that, your physician will determine if continuing treatment is necessary. If it is, they’ll also discuss the dosage and how often you’ll receive SPRAVATO® going forward.
